pink petal ballet…

last Saturday, I had the pleasure of photographing 180 little girls (and one boy!), ages 2 through 7 dancing their hearts out on stage at Capilano University Performance Arts Theatre.  my good friend and client, Alix Dunham of Pink Petal Ballet has been dancing her whole life and teaching kids to love dance for the past 17 years.  to see her work her magic with these adorable kids at Pink Petal Ballet’s year end performance is a joy to be shared…

the combination of all of those sweet faces in their adorable costumes made me take waaaaaaayyy too many photos!  as a result, I couldn’t resist creating a very special slideshow from a bunch of my favourites.

New Year’s Eve wedding – Vancouver Wedding Photographer

last year, I had the pleasure of spending New Year’s Eve with one of my favourite families, the Andrews of Country Furniture.  I first photographed Allison’s wedding in 2004 (which was back in the pre-digital, good old film days, but you can check out their wedding on the Media section of my website!).

and then in 2008, Allison’s brother Brock married his lovely bride, Marina in a very intimate and beautiful wedding at the Beach House in West Vancouver in late December.   I love winter weddings!

which then left the youngest brother, Mike… needless to say, I was thrilled when Mike and his lovely fiance Chelsea kept up the family tradition and asked me photograph their festive New Year’s Eve wedding!  I’m beginning to feel like part of the family and consider it a honour to have photographed all three siblings weddings.
check out Chelsea’s fabulous Gucci shoes and Pronovias gown…

the happy couple took my suggestion and made it a priority to take advantage of the daylight…  I know it is less traditional, but I love it when the bride and groom choose to see each other for the first time prior to the wedding! not only does it give them a chance to spend more of their wedding day together, most couples also say it gets rid of any pre-wedding jitters.  one main advantage is that it also helps with the flow of the wedding day.  rather than being whisked way following the ceremony to take photos, it allows the bride and groom to spend more time with their guests and take part in more of the celebration with their family &  friends.  we had a great time and got some wonderful photos of the two of them, in and around downtown Vancouver…
