+ How long have you been photographing weddings?
I took a leap of faith and quit my day job about 19 years ago and never looked back! I have spent the past two decades photographing hundreds of weddings and I am happy to say, I still love what I do.
+ Do you do other types of photography?
Yes! Although my business is primarily wedding and portrait photography, I also do some commercial and advertising photography as well. I think my photography style and people skills lend themselves well to a certain type of client. I always look forward to seeing what new work comes my way when I pick up the phone.
+ Do you travel for weddings?
Absolutely! Have passport, will travel. As a Vancouver-based wedding photographer, I have the opportunity to photograph local destination weddings in Whistler and the Okanagan. I’ve also had the pleasure of photographing destination weddings most recently in Spain and Hong Kong, Washington, Virginia, California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii and the British Virgin Islands. I think my favourite so far has been travelling with my husband to Italy to photograph a stunning wedding on the island of Capri… we have been dying to go back ever since.
+ Do you have an assistant who works with you?
Always. At weddings, I work with my associate photographer, Winona as a second shooter. This allows us to be in two places at once. For example when I’m with the bride photographing her getting ready, she is with the groom and his guys. This continues throughout the day and allows me to provide my clients with complete coverage of the events of the day from two different angles.
+ Do you have back up equipment?
Yes. And, back up for the back up equipment! I use top of the line Canon digital cameras and a large selection of prime lenses and carry at least two of everything. I’ve learned to prepare for every inevitability on a wedding day and although we rarely have things go wrong, we are covered if they do.
+ Do you provide albums after the wedding?
Yes, I carry a beautiful assortment of albums to choose from. What better way to enjoy the best images from your wedding day than with a stunning coffee table book to share with future generations for years to come? I work very closely with my clients to create a gorgeous album to tell the story of their day, which is also their first family heirloom.
+ Do you recommend an engagement shoot?
Absolutely! I love doing engagements shoots as they give me an opportunity to get to know my clients and for us to establish a comfort level, which makes the wedding day even more relaxed. The images we capture on the engagement shoot are always fun and casual and a beautiful compliment to the more formal images on the wedding day.
+ When do you recommend doing an engagement shoot?
At least 3 - 6 months prior to the wedding. This allows us time to select favourites and incorporate them into the wedding. For example, I love creating a unique coffee table book for the wedding guests to sign at the reception. Or a gorgeous canvas to display along side the signing table.
+ How would you describe your style of photography?
Gorgeous. Just kidding! Hard to choose one word, but if I can use more than one… I would say, timeless, elegant, romantic, casual, candid and emotional.
+ How long do we have to wait to see our wedding photos?
I do my best to send my couples a sneak peek shortly after the wedding, as I know they are dying to see them! The usual turnaround time for receiving your online gallery of images is four to six weeks following the wedding.
+ Can you do touch-ups on our photos?
Sure! To be honest, I find I don’t get that request often, as every bride is stunning on her wedding day. But, certainly we can make you look as perfect as you want.
+ Do you have any make-up artists or hairstylists you recommend?
As a matter of fact, I do. I have had the pleasure of working with a number of talented wedding professionals and would be happy to share them with you. Feel free to click on the links below to see a list of wedding vendors I recommend.
