I have the best clients...

I received an e-mail last week (on my birthday, no less!) from one of my awesome brides from this past year, Angela. it was incredibly kind and it made me feel really happy, so I wanted to share it here...

Hello my friend,

I sit here thinking about how Jon and I can express our gratitude for the part u have played in our wedding (a huge part). There really are no words to show you how special and sweet of a person you are. I stayed up quite late last nite just looking at the books over and over again. It never seems to get old for me (much to Jonathan's surprise). You have given me a chance to re-live the best day of my life (thus far) I will always have a glimpse of that magical day right at my fingertips. You have not disappointed me since the day we met and the books are even more beautiful than I imagined. I can't wait to show everyone I know. Jon and I wish you all the best that life has to offer...cuz u have more than added to ours. I hope that your business will flourish for years to come and I will without a doubt in my mind see u again one day! Santa will be very good to you this season cuz u have been nothing but *GOOD* all year round! Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Much love, Jonathan & Angela =P

THANK YOU, Angela! you know, from the moment I met you both I knew we were going to have a blast working together. you two are very special and it was an honour and a pleasure to be a part of capturing what you have together. you made my job very easy.

I think this is a great time to thank ALL of my brides and grooms from this year! thank you, thank you, for putting your trust in me to document one of the most important days of your life. I love what I do and I am very fortunate to have clients who feel the same way. it has been an amazing year and I have been very blessed. I want to wish each and every one of you all the best of the holiday season!

much love,

Lori

kathryn & chris - part two

there were just WAY too many beautiful images from this wedding to share. here's a few more of my favourites from the second half of the day. brides often ask the question, "what happens if it rains on my wedding day?" to which I reply, "we bring umbrellas!"

who says you can't have gorgeous photos in the rain...

the bride and her beautiful girls!

it was such a blustery day, we tried something different with the veil and I think it worked out pretty cool...

these two know how to work it!

we finally moved indoors for the reception at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver Crystal Ballroom...

in addition to the flawless coordination of the day by Susan Hyatt, aka the Wedding Lady, the florals and decor by Kim and Andy at Wedding Design Studio were beyond stunning. I have had the pleasure of photographing several weddings in this beautiful ballroom, but have never seen it quite like this...

the bride and groom and their very romantic first dance...

congratulations to you both on such an incredible wedding!  it was truly an honour to be a witness to the celebration and I wish you many, many years of happiness together.

spread the love...

want to help spread some love this holiday season? well, check this out... we photographers LOVE hearing feedback on our work and for the next 7 days, for everyone who leaves a comment right here on the brand new sweet pea blog, I will donate an item of canned food to our local food bank.

how's that for easy? it is so important to help out those less fortunate over the holiday season (as well as throughout the year!) and this is a simple way to do it. feel free to leave a comment, a question or a compliment anywhere here and help spread the love!

when you're done spreading the love here... be sure to check out a few of my friends and colleagues' blogs who have joined in the fun!

kathryn & chris - part one

Kathryn & Chris’ wedding promised to be spectacular and it did NOT disappoint.  These guys have to be two of the coolest people I know.  In addition to being incredibly funny, smart and kind, they are absolutely madly in love with each other.  They have both also been blessed with two of the sweetest families I've ever met.  All this combined with their great taste in friends and incredible style made their wedding more than memorable.

Chris and his boys were one cool group.  My good friend, Sherri Koop came along and second shot with me for the day and completely rocked it with the guys!

check out these funky custom M&M's...

details, details!  the gorgeous invitations from Marcia at Solodia were like nothing I've ever seen...

Kathryn's stunning shoes and Priscilla of Boston gown came from Blush in West Vancouver...

helloooooo, gorgeous!

Chris' first glimpse of his beautiful bride...

the ceremony at the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral was stunning...

the happy couple!

stay tuned for more photos from the second half of the day...

first comes love, then comes marriage...

one of the best parts of my job is keeping in touch with my wedding clients.  once the babies start coming, I am always thrilled to get a phone call!  I had the pleasure of photographing Aly & Dave's awesome wedding on Bowen Island a few years ago and we've been friends ever since.  now they have a beautiful daughter, Tessa and they invited me to come by a few weeks ago to spend the morning hanging out.  with my camera in hand, of course...

after lots of fun in the front yard with the flowers we moved indoors for a change of scenery...

it was fun see the gorgeous canvas prints from Tessa's newborn shoot hung on their bedroom wall...

Tessa loves her books!

especially these original Dr. Seuss books her Daddy had when he was little...

it was so great to see you guys and spend some time with Tessa.  she is one lucky little girl.  enjoy every minute!

shauna & thomas

our beautiful Fall weather made a stunning backdrop for my engagement shoot with Shauna & Thomas on the weekend!  they are such a classy couple and we had a great time getting to know each other and enjoying the sunshine.  I love when my couples choose to do an engagement shoot as it really gives us a chance to break the ice.  I love the opportunity to document their relationship in a casual environment with no time constraints and lots of time for creativity!  they were a bit nervous to start, but they took my suggestion of lots of snuggling and warmed right up...

lots of love between these two...

look at these trees!  I just love the colour...

loved the lines of these steps and the light was amazing...

something tells me this might be the shot for those cool "Save the Date" cards Shauna has planned...

can't wait for the wedding in August, guys!
